Serviced places to stay (hotels, guest houses, bed breakfasts, and so on) come in many styles and sizes, offering something for everyone irrespective of the purpose for your Oxford visit.

Bed and Breakfasts and BandBs, are usually based in private homes with evening meals sometimes available. BBs may have fewer facilities than Guest Houses.

Guest Houses, might be private homes or commercially rated premises that provide bed & breakfast, with evening meals sometimes available. Guest Houses often have more facilities than B and Bs.

Hotels, by far and away the most searched for type of accommodation are normally licensed establishments providing breakfast and dinner together with a whole host of facilities depending on hotel size.

Country House Hotels, generally in a quiet location and usually within their own extensive grounds. The style of operation may be informal and relaxed.

Country Houses, again in quiet locations, usually within their own grounds, providing breakfasts and evening meals by arrangement.

Farmhouses, are essentially bed & breakfasts style of accommodation situated on working farms.

Inns, are fully licensed establishments open to non-residents with facilities and services similar to those provided in hotels. Food and beverages are usually a major part of the operation.
